Transition The Grove

Wish list: That Brisbane City Council would adopt the idea that if every resident of Brisbane paid $30 per year public transport could be provided free to residents throughout the year.

Hospitals & Health Centres

• Prince Charles Hospital  Public transport and parking - Great Circle Line 599 bus from Brookside Shopping Centre.
• Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital     Getting there  Bus services now operate from King George Square in the city, and from Roma Street station through to Hospital. Alternatively take a bus or walk from near Windsor Station on the Ferny Grove line.
• Mater Private Hospital  Location and access
• Wesley Hospital (??the easiest to reach from Ferny Grove by train to Roma Street changing to Ipswich line then getting off at Auchenflower Station then walking.) Access
• Brisbane Dental Hospital Corner of Turbot & Albert Sts in the city. Take train to Central and walk.
• Royal Children's Hospital and Health Service District  Directions & parking
• Holy Spirit Hospital  Public transport and parking - bus from Brookside Shopping Centre
• NorthWest Hospital  Public transport

Wish list: Easily accessible (without a long walk or multiple changes of transport mode) public transport access for all residents in The Grove to major hospitals.

Train Ferny Grove to Keperra Station. 830metre, 10-12min walk

Car from Samford Rd, turn into Gralton or Box Streets, then into Corrigan Street. The North West Community Health Centre has parking for 80 cars.

Airports

Brisbane Airport

• Transfers between the Airtrain line and the Ferny Grove line are made at any of Bowen Hills, Brunswick Street, Central, Roma Street, and  with some exceptions (not trains leaving Ferny Grove at 7.43am, 8.07am, 8.20am, 9.58am) South Brisbane or South Bank. Several trains leaving Bowen Hills, Central or Roma Street do not go right through to Ferny Grove, finishing at Mitchelton Station, but a transfer can be made from Mitchelton Station to Ferny Grove on a later train.

Coolangatta Airport on the Gold Coast can also be reached by public transport  to the Gold Coast (train and bus).

• Bus 397 from the Ferny Grove station bus-stop goes closest, to the Arana Hills Library (Moreton Council). Get off in Patricks Rd. It is quite a steep walk uphill.
• Mitchelton Library (Brisbane City Council) difficult to access by public transport long walks.
• Brisbane City Council Central Library - access by train to the city, then walk across city.
• State Library of Queensland - access by train to South Brisbane, then walk
  

Wish list: Mobile library for The Grove or times when public transport is provided to libraries.

Cinemas

• Southbank by train to South Brisbane
• City by train to Central [16 kms]

Sunshine Coast

• Train from Ferny Grove to Bowen Hills or Brunswick Street or Central or Roma Street. Change to Sunshine Coast line. Connecting buses to travel to places like Australia Zoo, Noosa, Bribie Island, Abbey Museum, Caloundra, Maroochydore. Integrated ticketing applies.

Gold Coast

• Train from Ferny Grove to Beenleigh connects with bus services to Gold Coast locations right down to Coolangatta on the NSW border, and to places like Southport, Surfers Paradise, Bond University, Movie World, Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet n Wild, Outback Adventure. (Integrated ticketing applies)

Surf Beaches

• You could try transport to Kings Beach at Caloundra, or Woorum at Bribie Island, or go down to the Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise, Coolangatta, Burleigh Heads). All are accessible from The Grove by train and bus. Even the ocean side of North Stradbroke Island, or a trip to Noosa.

North Stradbroke Island

• Ferny Grove line train to Cleveland leaving early morning. Do a rapid transfer to the bus for the ferry outside the Cleveland station (integrated ticketing applies), and transfer to the ferry (need to purchase a separate ticket). Ferries from Cleveland, the BigRedCat, the Stradbroke Flyer, Stradbroke Ferries
  

Moreton Bay Marine Park and Bay Islands

• Ferny Grove line to Cleveland station, then transfer to bus ferry terminal at Weinam Creek Marina, Redlands Bay

Moreton Island & Tangalooma

Ferny Grove line to Wynnum/Manly on Cleveland line Hawkins Moreton Island Ferries, Moreton Island Ferries

Ferny Grove line to Roma Street station then walk through to Brisbane Transit Centre and get a transfer bus to the ferry terminal for the Tangalooma Flyer from Holt St, Pinkenba on the Brisbane River

Rivers

    Brisbane River

• Train to Bowen Hills, then bus to Teneriffe from outside station. Cross-river ferry to Bulimba. CityCat from Bulimba
• Train to Central, walk across city
