- Walkers can also access a number of forest trails throughout
the Range. These trails may be shared by horse and mountain bike
riders, four-wheel drivers and/or motorcyclists. Walkers give way to

Bellbird Grove, and McAfees Lookout.
- The old railway line track through the forest from the end of
Lanita Rd to Lanita Rd on the Samford side of the mountain is used for
cycling and walking.
Walking tracks
- In the South D'Aguilar Ranges there are a variety of short
walks along Class 3 tracks (Australian Standards). Class 3 tracks are
gently sloping, well-defined with slight inclines or few steps; caution
needed on loose gravel surfaces and exposed natural lookouts;
reasonable level of fitness and ankle-supporting footwear required.
Tracks are classified according to their most difficult sections.
- Turrbal circuit. 1.7km, allow 1 hour. Starts from
Bellbird Grove. This circuit winds through open eucalypt forest, down
into a wet eucalypt gully and back to the day-use area.
- Golden Boulder track. 1km, allow 40 minutes. Starts from
Bellbird Grove. A short walking track takes you along exposed ridges
and past historic gold mines. It is quite steep in places. Supervise
children at all times.
- Crebra circuit. 900m, allow 35 minutes. Starts from
Ironbark Gully. This circuit meanders through a forest of
deeply-furrowed and dark-coloured ironbark trees.
- Walkers can also access a number of forest trails throughout
the Range. These trails may be shared by horse and mountain bike
riders, four-wheel drivers and/or motorcyclists. Walkers give way to
horses. Cyclists give way to walkers and horses.
- Walking track from The Grove to Camp Mountain Lookout. Start
at the
bend between Sutton Court (following on from Lochinvar Rd) and McLean
Rd South. It is very
steep, a distance of
about 1.5kms.

and the bend in the road where Maclean Rd and Lochinvar Rd join.

- Ride only on formed roads and trails designated for
riding.
- Do not allow horses to enter or remain in or near natural
watercourses.
- Minimise damage to vegetation. Do not allow horses to
graze on any vegetation while in the area.
- Tether horses at hitching posts or resting areas only for
short periods to minimise soil erosion and compaction
- Avoid spreading weeds - ensure horses' coats, hooves and
equipment are free of seeds before park visits.

Overnight camping
Samford Showground has overnight camping 7km west of Samford on Mt
Glorious Rd on Showgrounds Drive. (About 18kms from The Grove along
Samford Rd). Gates usually locked. Contact caretaker 07 3289 7052.
There are toilets, showers, drinking water, power, picnic tables,
mobile phone coverage, pets allowed, room for big vehicles. A fee
applies.
Overnight camping in the Southern D'Aguilar Ranges in wild campsites
is accessible from The Grove, although none of the campsites are
actually in The Grove. The nearest would be Scrub Road Bush Camp
accessed from Mt Nebo Rd. The Scrub Road Bush Camp is accessible only
by walking in. Facilities are minimal. You will need to be physically
fit and have bushwalking and navigating experience and an emergency
plan in place with a responsible friend or family member. Always carry
a topographic map, compass, first-aid kit, water and food. mobile phone
reception is unreliable.
You must obtain a camping permit and pay the fees before camping
overnight. Try and book and pay six to eight weeks in advance for
public or school holiday periods. Obtain a permit and make payment form
www.qld.gov.au/camping or
by calling 13 13 04 with credit card details.
